This past first Friday on September 3rd, the VWVOFFKA Gallery, located in Fishtown held the Portside Art Center’s annual Summer Camp Art Show. The Portside Art Camp runs every summer for six weeks between the months of June to August. The Portsiders had a blast at the opening when they saw all their hard work on display in the gallery. Many campers and art goers joined in on the interactive fish mosaic project and got a feel for one of the many projects the campers did over the summer. All the Portside’s art projects were made out of recycled and donated materials. From buttons to bottles one would have never guessed these found materials would make for such beautiful pieces of art. The show was currated by Jenna Wilchisnky one of the members from the VWVOFFKA collective. She captured the spirit of the portside and transformed the art gallery into a fun interactive kids arts show. The portside children left the show smiling with a sense of accomplishment after seeing all there projects hung on white walls for the Fishtown/ Port Richmond communities.
